I’m still laying down on the bed. I couldn’t move or speak, and my headache was getting worse. Four hours later, one of our friend looked at me. She shined a flashlight in my eyes and said “We have to go to the hospital, something is not right.” If she wouldn’t have been there, I would have died. She rescued me.
Two guys carried me, one on each shoulder. They put me in the car and we all drove off. They got me to the hospital and checked me in. After a while, the nurse was talking to me, but still I couldn’t say anything. I was in so much pain I was rocking, side to side, anything to get the pain away. The ex-wife had to tell them my name, birthday, and what happened.
What came next bewildered me. The nurse said “You had a stroke.” A stroke? I thought, what does that mean? She also said, “We will medevac you to Seattle.” A new fear crept in me, and it was serious.
I was in and out of it. When I woke up, I was strapped in an ambulance. My headache was even more intense, and I was groaning. There was a nurse wearing scrubs, and he said “you’re alright”. There were lots of tubes and a bag of liquid. There was about seven people and I thought it was transferring from the ER ambulance to an airplane. It was all a blur. They move me, and I close my eyes.
Stay tuned for a hospital in Seattle (Harborview Medical Center).
